Oban 14s v Allen Glen’s & Wests

Oban 14s hosted Wests and Allen Glen’s in a triangular tournament at Glencruitten.

Wests provided strong opposition in the first game beating Oban 7-45 with Lewis Cairns scoring Oban’s try, converted by Tom Corns.

This was the 14s first game of the season and the team were a little rusty but on another day with better concentration they could have scored 3 more tries.

There were plenty of positives to be take from the game with No8 Jake Jevons continuously taking the game to West, winger James Blomfield making numerous big tackles and centre Sammy Harden causing the west’s defence all sorts of problems with his elusive running.

Oban’s performance improved in their second game v Allen Glen’s winning 54-28, scoring 8 tries with Tom Corns converting 7.

Try scorers in the first half were, James Blomfield, Lachie D’Arcy, Jake Jevons, Innes Maclean and Samuel Harden.

The second half saw tries scored by Lewis Cairns, Samuel Harden and Lachie D’Arcy.

A much improved performance with Eachaan Louw, James Blomfield and Calum MacKay leading the defence and mazy running from the twinkle toed Innes Mckinney and Innes Maclean with Tom Corns orchestrating the play from 10.

A great day of rugby which saw 22 players get plenty of game time.
